My children are growing up way too fast and I try and find ways to spend with them that is unique and special. With my son he absolutely loves our ‘quality time’ to be just before bed time. He loves to cuddle whilst making up fantasy stories. He loves to read and be read to and he especially loves a tickle. With his father he enjoys playing sports. They walk down to the park and play rugby, soccer and golf. These are his favourite moments.

My daughter on the other hand loves to do grown up things with me. If I am reading a book (which is usually a cook book of course), then she will sit by me and read as well. If I am making a cup of tea or a coffee, then she wants to share one with me. If I am cleaning the house, she is happy to grab a cloth and give a lending hand. How did I become so lucky to have a daughter that just wants to ‘hang-out’ with her mum?

Didn’t we find it ‘daggy’ or ‘boring’ to hang out with our parents? I feel totally blessed. However along with that joyous feeling, I also feel so sad and anxious that time is ticking away and they are growing up way too fast.

Ever since I returned to work (after an extended maternity leave) I just can’t keep up with making sure I find enough time to spend with them. I mean, being a mum is so rewarding yet at the same time so challenging too. What do you prioritise? Work? Family? Sports Activities? Social events? Cleaning? Family expectations? Gardening?

No matter how much I try, I feel like I am failing each time and then the whole world is ready to point fingers. I mean fingers are pointed whether a mum is a full time at-home mum or a working mum. But that’s a whole other story!

The only thing that makes me feel better is prioritising my kids. I decided to take advantage of time and focus on guilt-free parenting. Any time I find, I grab and off we go. Every morning we wake up 20 minutes earlier to have breakfast all together and talk about the day. Every morning we play eye-spy or the alphabet game in the car on the way to school and every night we spend an hour together talking, watching a show and discussing the day or sharing a cup of tea.

In saying all this, I hope we can all find the time to spend with loved ones and realise the importance of making the most of every day whether it be in the morning, before dinner or even during bedtime.

And now, I am excited to announce that I was very lucky to receive this beautiful wooden watch from JORD (@jordwatches) The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell you more than the time.

There is a link below to enter the chance to win a $100 voucher off their webpage on a new JORD watch and even if you do not win, everyone gets $25 off coupon code once you enter. Contest closes 19 December, 2017. Good luck to you all!
